> 3 dayThe perfect replacement product. I have an older Dell Studio XPS Laptop that had a 300GB HD running on Vista. To say that it was maddening was an understatement. Instead of buying a new Laptop, I opted for this SSD and W7 Ultimate for the OS. Wow, what a difference, it is like new, yet better.. This SSD is the perfect Laptop replacement. Installation was a breeze, included spacer fit perfectly, I had the W7 ISO ready, closed up the Laptop, slid in the W7 DVD and we are off to the races. Installation went perfectly, When all was said and done, before applications, I have >450GB available. Boot up time, from OFF is amazing, about 13 seconds. Anyone considering an SSD upgrade, this should be very high on their list.

Greater than one weekIt dropped $50 since I bought it January 26, 2015 but I dont care because it was worth it to breath new life into my aging 2008 MacBook Pro. My system bus is the only thing that keeps this from truly ripping as I have sata1. Nothing I can really do about that as I also maxed out the ram to 6Gigs despite Apple saying it would only take 4Gigs. My reboot time is around 55seconds as compaired to it being closer to 5 minutes or so w/the 7200RPM drive that it shipped w/from Apple. I only wish I had done it sooner. There are many other SSD drive options w/better storage for the buck but none w/ a TEN YEAR WARRANTY or even close. That was the clincher for me and that I have had SanDisk products that I have had good luck w/in the past didnt hurt. But it was definitely the TEN YEAR WARRANTY that hooked me.I even bought an iosafe just so I could get the longer warranty and data recovery after having had sooooo much lost data over the years (on my systems and systems in studios I recorded in/worked in). Did I mention the TEN YEAR brother scratching WARRANTY that this comes with? Ahhhhhhhhhhhh yea. The only reason I havent ripped out my Super Drive and put one in that space as well is that my system architecture wount support it :( It was relatively easy to install. I watched a bunch of utube videos and took it super slow and got some canned air and cleaned it out while I was in there. Oh ya my whole system runs cooler and the drive fluctuates from 90s to low 100s when I am really pushing it on a hot day. Also my battery life is way the fuzz longer (like hours longer) than it ever was. So in many ways it was like jumping up to a newer computer. I will get another one at some point to run as one of my external/backup drives (the 960GB if the price dropps).

28-11-2024I have a recording studio and a recent Mac Pro Cylinder computer. I needed a fast external drive for making music with my DAW software (Logic X). I tried a few different USB3 SSD and hard disk connections until I came to this drive. I use these in my Atomos Ninja 2 video recorder and that is how I got on to using them for my DAW. This disk mounted on an Atomos USB3 drive sled reads and writes at over 360 MB/s as measured with Black Magic Design disk speed test. This was the fastest drive Ive tested. By contrast my OWC USB3 SSD only writes at 150MB/s and reads at 205MB/s by the same measure. My Seagate 7200 3-TB hard disk drive which is Enterprise class reads and writes at 180MB/s so this SSD is really a big step up in speed. Its working great as my DAW SSD now, fast, quiet, cool running and Amazon makes it affordable and easy to get. Good music and good computing to all!

> 3 dayMy experience has been a terrific waste of my time and effort combined with some of the worst tech support I have encountered. The Samsung 850 Evo is quite a bit less expensive depending on whose listings you look at and about the same performance numbers (Toms Hardware). The Evo Pro is a little more expensive for the same capacities. Short version: tried to format it for HFS+ on my Macbook Pro running El Capitan. The drive ends up with a 200MB FAT volume (??), and an HFS+ volume. Ok, Ill bite, since it appears functional on the surface. NOPE. Cant copy files/folders to it (-36 error, did the dot_clean thing to no avail). The thing is read-only turns out. Cant reformat (input/output error). Have to use Windows Diskpart to clean it, since no OSX or Windows GUI alternatives can control much less modify the mystery FAT partition. Go back and format it as HFS+, and the merry-go-round starts all over. The several tech support people I interacted with via live chat had no clue whatsoever, regardless of the amount of technical info/data provided. A couple of them outrightly lied about escalating the issue, the one guy openly deriding my efforts to get it escalated, when he couldnt even identify what log files he wanted to have in order to do so. In no wise did my case get escalated, which ultimately was no surprise. Hope you all have more success than I did. Sending it back for a refund, and ordered an 850 EVO, pocketing the difference in cost.

> 3 dayThis drive is freaking awesome. My computer (Early 2011 Macbook Pro with 4 GB RAM, 2.3 GHz i5) just went from dying DOG to flying GOD. Here are some of the observations, after swapping out the stock Hitachi 5400 rpm drive with this one: - Write speed of 480 MB/s and - Read speed of 520 MB/s (based on BlackMagicDesign Disk Speed Test, so take it with a grain of salt) Pros: - The PRO version provides the higher write speeds, almost double of regular drives - 10 year warranty (vs 5 years max. of the competitors) Cons: - None really (although some may argue the higher price, but the Pros stated above justify that IMO) Tip: Assuming the general idea for buying this is to improve your computer speed, you should consider looking at how much RAM you have and if your system is starving. In my case, Activity Monitor was showing that 4GB ram was maxing out so I upgraded to 8GB. With my normal usage which includes using Adobe Photoshop and illustrator, my RAM consumption was contained within 6GB, so the 8 GB RAM upgrade added a nice boost as well.

> 3 dayThis SSD replaces my C:drive and is smoking fast in comparison. Although my motherboard is only a SATA II, I have an add-on card with USB 3.0 and two SATA III connections. I am now spoiled. Adobe Photoshop used to take nearly a minute to load and now loads in 10 seconds. PC Tuneup Utilities works extremely fast now. I look forward to updating all of my PC based on this great product. I highly recommend this SSD.

> 3 dayTo get the best performance to 530MB/s seq read, youll need to install in main slot of your machine, with high speed SATA3 6.0Gb/s port Otherwise the transmission speed will be limited by SATA2 of your optical disc drive slot. Anyway good SSD in medium level with SanDisks own 64Gbit 19nm MLC cell, old Marvell 9187 but more stable, and cheaper than 850 pro. if you have more money you can choose Intel 730, or PCIe for desktop. Ill give a s*** to sumsungs so-called 3D V-nand, you know reason. Avg. random write 65-95MB/s, enough for Win10

> 3 daySo everything youve read about this drive is pretty much spot on- its really fast and its nearly a TB of storage. Just what I needed to put all my photos & videos on for doing my editing in Lightroom/Photoshop/etc. Its definitely worth going Thunderbolt over USB2/3 if youve got a Mac to eek out the full performance of this drive. That said, there is one problem- SSDs like this do not like being turned off for months at a time. Without power Ive noticed some data corruption of some of my files. Luckily nothing major, but it was bad enough that I wasnt able to recover the data and I had a few corrupted image files. Now I keep my two Extreme Pros in a cheap powered USB enclosure when not in use so they dont have this problem and Ive not seen any more corrupted files. This is a general issue with SSDs and not specific to these drives from what I can tell, so its just a limitation of the technology. This means these drives are NOT good for archival purposes which is too bad.

> 3 dayOk, you probably have read most the reviews for this product. So the only thing i would like to point out is, if you connect this SSD to a PC via a enclosure for the firs time, (at leas in my case, using ORICO 2588US3 USB 3.0 2.5 - inch SATA External Hard Drive HDD Case.), the drive will not be recognized at all, which is in contrast to what some of the reviewers commented on this product(it will show up in the windows as a hard disk ). What you have to do is (in Windows 8, Im sure for windows 7, it will be pretty much the same), go to control panel --> Administrative tools ---> computer management --> > Disk management, then you will be prompted to initialize the drive/disk. As I wasnt aware of this (i.e. initialization has to be done first) when I got the drive, I thought the disk was defective (I even took the drive to best buy to have it inspected, they thought so too). So I had to return to Amazon, asking for a replacement drive. I think the manufacture should have mentioned this step somewhere on the instructions manual sheet coming with the product. Thats why I took one star. Other than that, this drive itself is super fast. I cloned my existing hard disk (128 GB SSD ) in the laptop I just bought to this SSD drive, it took only less than 10 seconds (could be much less). A side note, Amazon makes the return REALLY easy. just print the shipping label provided by Amazon, you can either drop it off at UPS or have UPS pick it up. The replacement drive arrived even before they receive the drive Id returned. Speechless ! Thats SERVICE!

> 3 dayThis was my first SSD. I was torn between this and a Samsung EVO. Really, it was the 10 yr warranty that swung me to the SanDisk. Since longevity it still a concern with SSD, I dont regret spending a little more for the piece of mind. It worked flawlessly on initial fire up. Its my OS drive and I had zero issues installing Windows 8.1 on my brand new gaming rig I just built. Holy crap does this thing boot up fast! The main specs of my PC: ASUS Maximus Hero VII Intel 4790K PNY GTX 770 OC 4GB 16 GB ADATA 2400 WD 1TB HDD
