> 24 hourThe Schlage was MUCH HEAVIER than my Kryptonite 12 mm chain! Schlage measures from edge-to-edge, while Kryptonite is 12 mm from vertex-to-vertex!

> 24 hourThis chain is a beast. It is very well constructed and highly recommended if it fits you application. Unfortunately it is too big to pass through the wheels of my cargo trailer. I am returning it because of its size but I would buy it again if I had a place to use it.

> 24 hourUsing this and a puck lock for my generator! I won’t need to worry about it walking away while at a camp site

> 24 hourAfter researching bicycle locks, chain reviews and bike theft videos, being on my 4th bike, living in NYC. Im happy to own this chain now. Its not too heavy, its what is needed to prevent it from being able to get clipped. Plus I got some exercise being able to do some bicep curls after unwrapping it. Along with the chain I got the Kryptonite Evolution Series 4 Bicycle Disc Bike Lock and feel my bicycles safe. Of course its important also where exactly and how to lock the bike. Theres still the seat and front wheel to consider. Perhaps another U-lock for the front-wheel.

> 24 hourAs a point of reference, this lock is so heavy that it destroyed the box it came in. While Im using it to lock up a small motorcycle, Im sure it would also serve to secure a bicycle, a moped, a jet-ski, or nuclear launch codes. Its so heavy that you may not need to actually secure it to a post, thieves will just look at its massive links and despair. I bought this because of the noose portion which allows me to secure the motorcycle to objects that are further away when compared to a chain that doesnt have that feature. On a more serious note, I appreciate the nylon sleeve that helps to keep this from scratching things its attached to.

> 24 hourAt 6 pounds 12.3 ounces measured on my kitchen scale which is accurate to 1/10 of an ounce its a hefty chain. The links are 6 sided which is suppose to require a greater amount of pressure to break the chain with a bolt cutter because the pressure of the bolt cutter blades are spread over a broader area unlike round links. Each link is 12mm side to side measured with my micrometer which is accurate to 0.001 inches which I then converted to mm. The measurement in inches was 0.474 inches so its not quite 1/2 inch although its advertised as 1/2 inch. The chain does measure 39.5 inches in length including the cinch ring. My criteria in purchasing a chain was to have something that would most likely deter anyone wanting to steal my bicycle. The name of the game is deterrence. No lock or chain is full proof. Most thieves just want to get in and out quickly. They want the easy job, not the job that requires a lot of effort unless the pay off is also great. I decided that the minimum diameter of each link would be 12 mm after watching many Youtube videos and researching the cost of chains that are larger in diameter but of course would also weigh more. Twelve millimeter thickness seems to be the minimum thickness that requires the largest bolt cutter and is still nearly impossible to break. Its amazing how much more the chains weigh with just a small increase in diameter. I have not tried to cut this chain with a hack saw nor have I tried to break it with a bolt cutter. I did find a video by a chain manufacturer trying to break their own chains with a very large bolt cutter leveraged against the ground using his full body weight. He couldnt break the chain. Given enough time Im sure you can cut through this with a hack saw but again the thieves want to be out of there quickly. You can find a cordless angle grinder being used to cut through a 12mm chain in less than 2 minutes because it takes 2 cuts to release the chain. No chain will stop an angle cutter. You cant stop everyone. You can only deter the majority. If someone wants what you have bad enough they will have the determination to find a way to steal it. Deterrence is the name of the game. I also purchased a Kryptonite Evolution series 4 U-Lock to lock the chain and will post a review of it. Its not about the destination, its about the journey.

> 24 hourI’m returning this product because I underestimated how heavy duty this would be!! I remember reading the specs and thinking it didn’t sound THAT heavy, but this thing is massive. My (admittedly old) mother had a hard time picking it up. Would be good for a motorcycle, or maybe leave it where you lock up, but I was looking for something I could wrap around my seat tube and quickly chain up to a pole while I’m out running errands. Riding a bike with this thing IS an errand in itself. Seems extremely well built. I live in Los Angeles and have had three bikes stolen. This chain would definitely NOT be the weakest link, I’m sure any wannabe thieves would try sawing the pole it’s locked to or drilling the lock before they even attempt any funny business with this chain. It’s almost as thick as my wrist. I’ll be getting something much much lighter (in addition to my 2 other u-locks).

> 24 hourI was about to buy an expensive bike chain with lock when my housemate reminded me that I already have a u-lock. Of course, all I need is the chain. I use my u-lock while riding around town and use this chain to lock my bike up in the garage for extra security. The chain can stay put since its quite heavy.

> 24 hourSolid, long enough to secure bike. Best use _ stationary security in medium security area, perfect to secure to the car bike rack . A BIT TOO HEAVY TO TAKE WITH YOU if you are riding light weight expensive road bike, but may be OK for e bike or gravel bike with a luggage rack . This chain is resistant to hand held boltcutter, BUT NOT grinder.

> 24 hourCinch ring feature is nice for many applications. Buyer needs to allow extra length allowing for chain used securing both the cinch end and the lock end.
