> 3 dayI tried a plethora of items for locking up bikes. Decided to not keep this because this is one SERIOUS chain. It weighs 10.7 lbs so a real drag (unless you want to wrap it around your bike). Youll need to use a separate U-lock. Can also use a regular padlock, but make sure the padlock is big enough to take click around the huge chain. IMHO I think it is a clear-as-hell sign to a potential thief you are serious. WOuld likely deter daytime opportunists...

> 3 dayAs a point of reference, this lock is so heavy that it destroyed the box it came in. While Im using it to lock up a small motorcycle, Im sure it would also serve to secure a bicycle, a moped, a jet-ski, or nuclear launch codes. Its so heavy that you may not need to actually secure it to a post, thieves will just look at its massive links and despair. I bought this because of the noose portion which allows me to secure the motorcycle to objects that are further away when compared to a chain that doesnt have that feature. On a more serious note, I appreciate the nylon sleeve that helps to keep this from scratching things its attached to.

> 3 dayThis chain is beefy! Love it. My only regret is that I did not get one that is a foot longer (that is my fault of course). Update - still love this chain. It stays perm. attached to my bike rack and I lock up my pricy mtn bike when I have to leave it on my car. The lock would be the weak part of my system, however, most crimes are crimes of opportunity and it is not easy, they wont bother.

> 3 daySolid, long enough to secure bike. Best use _ stationary security in medium security area, perfect to secure to the car bike rack . A BIT TOO HEAVY TO TAKE WITH YOU if you are riding light weight expensive road bike, but may be OK for e bike or gravel bike with a luggage rack . This chain is resistant to hand held boltcutter, BUT NOT grinder.

> 3 dayAt 6 pounds 12.3 ounces measured on my kitchen scale which is accurate to 1/10 of an ounce its a hefty chain. The links are 6 sided which is suppose to require a greater amount of pressure to break the chain with a bolt cutter because the pressure of the bolt cutter blades are spread over a broader area unlike round links. Each link is 12mm side to side measured with my micrometer which is accurate to 0.001 inches which I then converted to mm. The measurement in inches was 0.474 inches so its not quite 1/2 inch although its advertised as 1/2 inch. The chain does measure 39.5 inches in length including the cinch ring. My criteria in purchasing a chain was to have something that would most likely deter anyone wanting to steal my bicycle. The name of the game is deterrence. No lock or chain is full proof. Most thieves just want to get in and out quickly. They want the easy job, not the job that requires a lot of effort unless the pay off is also great. I decided that the minimum diameter of each link would be 12 mm after watching many Youtube videos and researching the cost of chains that are larger in diameter but of course would also weigh more. Twelve millimeter thickness seems to be the minimum thickness that requires the largest bolt cutter and is still nearly impossible to break. Its amazing how much more the chains weigh with just a small increase in diameter. I have not tried to cut this chain with a hack saw nor have I tried to break it with a bolt cutter. I did find a video by a chain manufacturer trying to break their own chains with a very large bolt cutter leveraged against the ground using his full body weight. He couldnt break the chain. Given enough time Im sure you can cut through this with a hack saw but again the thieves want to be out of there quickly. You can find a cordless angle grinder being used to cut through a 12mm chain in less than 2 minutes because it takes 2 cuts to release the chain. No chain will stop an angle cutter. You cant stop everyone. You can only deter the majority. If someone wants what you have bad enough they will have the determination to find a way to steal it. Deterrence is the name of the game. I also purchased a Kryptonite Evolution series 4 U-Lock to lock the chain and will post a review of it. Its not about the destination, its about the journey.

> 3 dayThis chain is HUGE. Certainly fine for my needs. Only downside? The weight. But no stars off for that.. Nice welds also.

13-06-2025I am usimg it to secure a generator to a ground anchor. The way it loops around so you only have to lock onr end of the chain is a great idea. Plus this allows you to use the full length and not have to double it up to lock something. An additional feature I like is it comes with a nylon cover so it will not sctatch the crap out of what is is secured to.

Greater than one weekThe other reviewers were correct, pictures dont do it justice. This thing is legit. Obviously Im not going to take big cutters or a grinder to it to find out how well it really performs for security, but through handling it I am impressed. Mine is weighing in at about 10.4 pounds. I bought it to secure a generator by the frame, I wouldnt be surprised if cutting the generator frame is easier than defeating this chain or my overkill insurance rated ABUS padlock I will use with it

> 3 dayThe chain looks indestructible. It is also very heavy and especially bulky. I can tolerate the weight, but those links could be just a tad smaller to make the chain more compact. That said I think it is a good chain for someone who needs to lock an expensive bike outside overnight (itll probably still be there in the morning). And the cinch ring is a good idea to help to utilize the length to the max, so you dont have to buy the longer version of this chain. I do wish Schlage would made the lite version of this.
