> 3 dayLets be real... nothing will stop a thief who wants your stuff bad enough, and as good as this chain is you are going to need a good lock too. Not much to say about it other than it is a thick, well made chain. Only real downside is the weight, but the mass is part of the reason you want a chain like this.

> 3 dayI use this to secure motorcycles and it gives confidence. This thing is beefy and the pass through ring makes it much better. Good buy

> 3 dayThis is really a good security chain. Cant see anyone getting through this easily. It is, however, quite heavy. This really doesnt make it very portable. I use it to secure the bikes to the rack on my truck for overnight stops. Cant imagine carrying this with me on a ride anywhere.

07-06-2025This chain is very beefy and is too heavy to carry on your person. It is best stored wrapped around the bike frame. Only a very determined and well equipped bike thief that happens to be carrying a blow torch might be able to cut this chain. The chain cover that it comes with is a little short in length and exposes some of the chain links. A used bike inner tube fits perfectly to cover the exposed links and prevents damage to the frame.

> 3 dayThis is a review for the Schlage 999461 chain with cinch ring. This is a very nice heavy duty chain that can be used to secure bikes to a car bike rack. The internal chain link opening is 19.8mm (0.779 inches). The heavy duty chain arrived with a nice nylon sleeve on about half the chain, leaving 6 links exposed. To protect my bikes, I stretched a part of a Mountain Bike inner tube 26 x 2.1-2.5 over the exposed links, adding a zip tie on the end to prevent it from slipping. At the last link, I cut a hole in the inner tube to allow my Onguard Brute U-lock to pass through. Now, I can securely lock my bikes to my car bike rack in a higher crime area.

Greater than one weekThe other reviewers were correct, pictures dont do it justice. This thing is legit. Obviously Im not going to take big cutters or a grinder to it to find out how well it really performs for security, but through handling it I am impressed. Mine is weighing in at about 10.4 pounds. I bought it to secure a generator by the frame, I wouldnt be surprised if cutting the generator frame is easier than defeating this chain or my overkill insurance rated ABUS padlock I will use with it

> 3 dayThis is a heavy duty chain. Im using it to secure a gas generator to a shed and more than enough length to secure. Because the chain is mounted in the back of the shed and under the generator, using a bolt cutter or grinder would not be impossible, but highly unlikely. I would recommend this product for this application. This is heavy so I wouldnt want to carry this around or use on a bike, but a motorcycle with storage bin would work.

> 3 dayChello, I have recently purchased this 5 chain for security of my motorcycle. Im not exactly in a high risk area like I was in L.A. but I dont trust people when it comes to my personal property. I tested the hardness of this chain myself as you can see in the photo. It was difficult to get a perfect reading due to the coating on the steel. However, after several attempts, I think my test is in the ballpark. I called Schlage and after several minutes of waiting for the rep to investigate what I was asking, (What is the HRC) she said she finally found someone who knew. According to her it is HRC 62. I said thats very high, and she said thats what she was told, turns out she was correct! So this is a bad a** chain for the money, the only ones harder are Pewag and Laclede. Im getting the smaller one as well.

> 3 dayIt works fine for my purpose, though in my head, 5 was longer than it is in reality. I measured, and the chain is actually 5. Its a heavy chain and feels solid. Gives me peace of mind, and makes it easier to lock up my motorcycle at home. Wouldnt be real great to lug around town because of how heavy it is, but you could definitely do that. Its more expensive than I think it should be, but go try and find a better deal (tell me if you do!).
