Schlage 12mm Cinch Ring Security Chain (No Lock)

> 3 dayThis is a heavy duty chain. Im using it to secure a gas generator to a shed and more than enough length to secure. Because the chain is mounted in the back of the shed and under the generator, using a bolt cutter or grinder would not be impossible, but highly unlikely. I would recommend this product for this application. This is heavy so I wouldnt want to carry this around or use on a bike, but a motorcycle with storage bin would work.

> 3 dayI havent tried to cut it, but it sure does appear to be bolt cutter proof. You can tell its make of a more hardened material than normal chains.

> 3 dayAfter researching bicycle locks, chain reviews and bike theft videos, being on my 4th bike, living in NYC. Im happy to own this chain now. Its not too heavy, its what is needed to prevent it from being able to get clipped. Plus I got some exercise being able to do some bicep curls after unwrapping it. Along with the chain I got the Kryptonite Evolution Series 4 Bicycle Disc Bike Lock and feel my bicycles safe. Of course its important also where exactly and how to lock the bike. Theres still the seat and front wheel to consider. Perhaps another U-lock for the front-wheel.

Greater than one weekThis product is an effective product. The product does not give you any slack. Its so thick that by the time you wrap one end around your motorcycle wheel, you have used a foot, and by the time you wrap the other end around a stationary object, you will need to be up against the stationary object. Using it the way I describe, you will need two sturdy locks which will cost another fifty bucks at least. In other words, the products relatively short length of five feet restricts the versatility of the product. Kryptonite makes a floor locking mechanism which would work well with this product. It cost seventy bucks and it requires some skill to install it in concrete securely. There is a good YouTube on how to install it, which I think is posted by the manufacturer on the amazon site.

> 3 dayI work as an overnight delivery driver in a major metro. I also like to ride my motorcycle to work. Naturally, I worry about my bike wandering off while Im out on my route. I decided to get a loop chain and disc lock in order to discourage would-be thieves from absconding with my means of conveyance. I looked at sets but found them to be grossly overpriced. After much consideration, I decided to purchase this chain and a Krypotine Evolution Disc lock. The chain is heavy and feels strong. If anyone has tested it, I wouldnt know, since my bike is still mine. Further, by purchasing the chain and lock separately, I was able to save a few bucks. If I had to gripe, Id say that the ring is a little too small and it binds up when you try to cinch it tight. Not a major issue, I just have to bend my lazy butt over and work it through. Also, they weight is a little much to carry in your backpack, I just keep it in my locker at work.

> 3 dayWhat really convinced me to get this chain was the YouTube of a guy unsuccessfully try to cut it with giant bolt cutters. Whether it was a set or not I dont know. I live way out in the boondocks and travel often and was trying to find the thickest affordable chain possible. I may get the longer version next to help secure a trailer. Nothing is entirely thief proof but it looks like this chain will certainly slow one down.

> 3 dayPLEASE TO NOTE: I bought this chain to protect my bicycle. never used it to secure the bicycle because it was far too heavy to carry around without a porter or a llama. why would I buy such a massively heavy chain for a bicycle??? because the product description dropped a fat lie with a 5 pound product weight claim. I thought it was some wonder alloy. its not. Its just steel with manganese added probably for corrosion resistance, not for weight reduction. [yeah I know it was just an honest mistake by the person who listed the item, maybe its the actual weight of the 33 version, yada yada yada. I just know that honest errors are frequently made on amazon product description and oddly, all of them seem to favor the vendor or make the product appear better than it is. just sayin.] Take a look at my photo and tell me that looks like a 5 pound weight-class chain. (no thats not a mini beer can thats a regular 12 ounce Ballast Point.) THE CHAIN WEIGHS 10.5 POUNDS and thats without a lock. so if you go beefy on the lock plan on carting around 11-12 pounds, which is probably over the limit of even most motorcycle cases and bags, let alone bicycle racks. I stand by my earlier review (cblo), it is indeed a good chain to secure things on your patio or in your garage. but I knocked off two stars for the item description presenting alternative facts in the weight department. ======================= Massive links make thieves move right on past it....they will find easier prey somewhere else. the chain is THAT distinctive. I paired it with an Assa Abloy Enforcer 341 with a fully exposed shackle - just dont get the shrouded shackle model, Im sure only one fat link will fit through the shackle and still close. you will need to be able to grab two links with the lock. buy the chain and maybe go to a locksmith and get the right size lock.

Greater than one weekIt is impossible for a criminal to break this chain unless they were Superman mixed with Thanos. They would break the lock before this chain. And its uber heavy. Like heavier than any baby.

> 3 daySolid, heavy chain that works well. I use with 14mm Kryptonite New York lock which fits easily through the links. Chain is long enough to go through rear bike wheel, bike frame and bike rack.
