> 3 dayI use this chain to lock up my mountain bike. I dont have any worries about anyone cutting through it (without power tools). Although realize this is not a very portable chain. Id be hard pressed to put it on my bike and take it anywhere, unless I was in a high-crime area.

> 3 dayAt 6 pounds 12.3 ounces measured on my kitchen scale which is accurate to 1/10 of an ounce its a hefty chain. The links are 6 sided which is suppose to require a greater amount of pressure to break the chain with a bolt cutter because the pressure of the bolt cutter blades are spread over a broader area unlike round links. Each link is 12mm side to side measured with my micrometer which is accurate to 0.001 inches which I then converted to mm. The measurement in inches was 0.474 inches so its not quite 1/2 inch although its advertised as 1/2 inch. The chain does measure 39.5 inches in length including the cinch ring. My criteria in purchasing a chain was to have something that would most likely deter anyone wanting to steal my bicycle. The name of the game is deterrence. No lock or chain is full proof. Most thieves just want to get in and out quickly. They want the easy job, not the job that requires a lot of effort unless the pay off is also great. I decided that the minimum diameter of each link would be 12 mm after watching many Youtube videos and researching the cost of chains that are larger in diameter but of course would also weigh more. Twelve millimeter thickness seems to be the minimum thickness that requires the largest bolt cutter and is still nearly impossible to break. Its amazing how much more the chains weigh with just a small increase in diameter. I have not tried to cut this chain with a hack saw nor have I tried to break it with a bolt cutter. I did find a video by a chain manufacturer trying to break their own chains with a very large bolt cutter leveraged against the ground using his full body weight. He couldnt break the chain. Given enough time Im sure you can cut through this with a hack saw but again the thieves want to be out of there quickly. You can find a cordless angle grinder being used to cut through a 12mm chain in less than 2 minutes because it takes 2 cuts to release the chain. No chain will stop an angle cutter. You cant stop everyone. You can only deter the majority. If someone wants what you have bad enough they will have the determination to find a way to steal it. Deterrence is the name of the game. I also purchased a Kryptonite Evolution series 4 U-Lock to lock the chain and will post a review of it. Its not about the destination, its about the journey.

> 3 daySturdiest heavy duty chain I’ve ever seen! It’s awesome! Very heavy, but totally worth the money! If you need security, buy this chain!

> 3 dayWow! Ive got to lock my bike unattended in a basement common garage. Now that Ive got this chain (and a very heavy duty disc lock), I have no worries leaving my bike alone in the garage. The cinch loop is surprisingly helpful, as it allows me to stretch out the chain a bit from the wall, looping the cinched end through my frame and wheel and locking the other end to a concrete wall anchor with the lock. Note: this is a very heavy chain, so itll be a workout if you want to carry it around instead of just leaving it locked in place.

> 3 dayA substantial chain with just about the right length for reasonable situations. BIG DOWNSIDE: the sheath is not long enough and will scrape the crap out of your bike. My bike is for transportation and it is brand new so I dont really care, but you might want to look into getting some sort of supplemental sheath. The cinch link is great- let you maximize the length and simplifies locking. I think this is a great lock to go with it... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00004Y8CA/ref=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_34

> 3 dayHoly crap this thing is huge. Definitely not something for a bicycle ride... Maybe a motorcycle or leaving at home to lock overnight. I bet you could lock your whatever in the worst neighborhood in Russia and they wouldnt touch this chain. The week link would be the lock or whatever your locking it to. I have returned it due to its weight and size. I have no use for this as its just too much security and not light enough to bike with.

> 3 dayLike I said. Beefy & Heavy. That is exactly why I gave it 5 stars. I love this chain with the slip through noose ring. The ring allows you to cinch it up or use another lock for extra protection. Piece of mind can sometimes come at a great cost but Im really happy to have it and would buy another if needed.

> 3 dayI was about to buy an expensive bike chain with lock when my housemate reminded me that I already have a u-lock. Of course, all I need is the chain. I use my u-lock while riding around town and use this chain to lock my bike up in the garage for extra security. The chain can stay put since its quite heavy.
