Greater than one weekSo these are HEAVY chains. Surprisingly heavy. I really do think they are probably overkill in this 12mm size for most purposes, but for what they are, they are nice. The cinch ring is really a great idea, giving you more length with less chain. I got them to secure some very expensive mountain bikes if they need to be left reasonably unattended. They could steal the vehicle easier than they could get through these chains. They are also annoying, in that they are unwieldy and a pain to actually use due to their size and weight. Unless you are SURE you need this level of security, I really think I would consider going down to like 8mm, but you cant go wrong with these Schlage chains (which I have heard are the mfg for Kryptonite chains as well).

> 3 dayDont cheap out, this chain is worth the investment. I use this is my bike chain with a good boron shackle lock; heavy as hell, but I just wear it like a sash. I wish it had a velcro strap at both ends of the sleeve instead of just the cinch end, but I understand the design decision.

> 3 dayI read a few reviews that mentioned how massive and heavy this chain is. Take note! It IS massive and heavy. I will be using this on my bike rack for security as it is way too big to carry on my bike. It can be defeated as all chains can with a portable angle grinder but this is as good as you can get. It will surely deter most casual thieves.

> 3 dayThis is really a good security chain. Cant see anyone getting through this easily. It is, however, quite heavy. This really doesnt make it very portable. I use it to secure the bikes to the rack on my truck for overnight stops. Cant imagine carrying this with me on a ride anywhere.

> 3 dayThis is a very high quality product. The links are totally impervious to a hacksaw and file, and 15 seconds of angle grinding only made the most minor of abrasions. I bought this for chaining a small safe to my steel bed frame to make it harder to walk off. Sawing apart the steel bed frame will definitely now be the easiest way to walk away with my safe. The cinch ring is a great feature. The chain is honestly way overkill for my task but I couldnt find a smaller chain with the cinch ring, which I wanted. Cyclists: Get a smaller chain... this is way too hefty for your purposes. Would be good for motorcycles in very high-risk areas.

17-11-2024Just the right size! I use this to secure my trailer to the welded hitch of my truck. I got a large stainless steal lock that I lock to the chain hole on my trucks hitch. I lasso the tongue on the welded parts where they come to a tip of a triangle with the chain and slip the chain into the large ring and pull towards my truck. I figure with this and various other locks on the trailer itll dieter a thief to look for an easier target.

> 3 dayLets be real... nothing will stop a thief who wants your stuff bad enough, and as good as this chain is you are going to need a good lock too. Not much to say about it other than it is a thick, well made chain. Only real downside is the weight, but the mass is part of the reason you want a chain like this.

> 3 dayCinch ring doubles the effective working length. Will defeat all but the most serious bike thieves.

> 3 dayThe other reviewers were correct, pictures dont do it justice. This thing is legit. Obviously Im not going to take big cutters or a grinder to it to find out how well it really performs for security, but through handling it I am impressed. Mine is weighing in at about 10.4 pounds. I bought it to secure a generator by the frame, I wouldnt be surprised if cutting the generator frame is easier than defeating this chain or my overkill insurance rated ABUS padlock I will use with it
