I love the acoustic signature of an open back headphone. And in my opinion I believe that Sennheiser makes the best open back headphones. The special edition version was a nice touch since I didnt really fancy the original tan version. The HD 598 model has lower impedance so its great for using it without an headphone amplifier, for laptops, mp3 players, smartphones. The higher end models of the Sennheiser HD range require an amp as they are rated at a higher impedance. In terms of comfort, I came from an Audio Technica M50, and I would never go back to those again. The ATH M50s felt like they were compressing my head quite a bit, while these headphones stayed on loosely but not too loose that they would fall off easily. This is my first open ear headphone, and if anything should happen to this one, Id try out the newer version of this model, the HD 599.

Après quelques semaines de test, je poste mon avis sur ce produit... Il est bon au niveau de la spatialisation, les instruments sont bien représentées, les basses sont rondes et les aiguës non agressif et la voix intelligible. Le spectre est gardé et bien équilibré. Mais, parce quil y a un mais, jai comme limpression que la musique nest pas nette. Même avec des fichiers de bonnes qualité. Amateur de musiques douces comme agressives, il sonne parfois sur certaines musiques, comme voilé, parfois un peu brouillon. Je ne suis pas un habitué des casques ouverts mais je préfère les modèles fermé. Même si à volume convenable, dans un milieu peu bruyant on entend pas trop les sons extérieurs. Je dirai que ce casque nest pas mauvais et 100€ est une bonne offre lorsquelle est émise par amazon. Mais pour moi, ce nest pas un casque vraiment haut de gamme. Je préfère largement lAudio Technica ATH-M50 donc il est le concurrent.

Great sound. Really comfortable even wearing a glass. Do not expect head rattling bass from this headphone, but does its job well. Very natural sounding.

Ive never left a review on amazon before and ive been buying 3-5 things a week from them for over 2 years so this should tell you something... THESE HEADPHONES ARE AMAZING!!!!. Would buy them again in a heartbeat. Whether your buying them for music or movies/tv it will feel like your on the set or in the studio. Incredible!! Would definitely recommend having an amp to go with them though. While the sound quality is still great without it youll never see their full potential without one

I thought writing a review for these headphones is not necessary as these are quite good and there are already many reviewers here loving these. But still, here is my take on it. These are open back design headphones that produce airy sound with minimal bass and has vocal emphasized characteristic. I prefer headphones over IEMs and bought this one 2 years ago. I am still happy with it... I recently purchased $25 Symphonised NRG 2.0 wooden earbuds and had this bitter revelation, at first. These tiny In-ear monitors aka earbuds, just Rs 1500 worth, produced sound with good enough sound stage, improved bass, good/better vocals (Sennheisers is forwarded) and overall better instrument reproduction compared to Senn HD 598s. I played 320kbps MP3s, a video game and some movies and compared both. I give Symphonised 4/5 stars. I started to listen to these and found them more fun and better but something was missing. There was better bass in these but lacked soul. Purity may be the clearer/better word. More pure listening experience was missing from these good sounding IEMs. I realized later then, in comparison, that its not just how an audio equipment sound. With HD598s, its about how they makes you feel for your music, at least for me. Most audio equipments sound different from each other, but different doesnt itself mean bad, of course. HD598s may seem inferior at first in areas like bass. Since these have more emphasis on vocals (forwarded), other range of the spectrum get slightly affected too deviating its sound signature from a neutral one quite much, I think. But... the vocals do make up for this by sounding nicer. These sound clear and are non-fatiguing and have wider and open sound stage. These give me emotions for music I listen to which I dont get from any other options that I have yet. Others may give me more fun but these give me a different awesome feeling inside, like a bliss of eargasm, when I listen to them in silence. Also, which can be enjoyed for hours due to easy on ears sound. A good DAC/AMP is absolutely necessary to get them to satisfactory loud volumes. I like my music flat so I dont mess with EQs. No comments on EQ, thats why. These are value for money. I had to notice what these do better than other gears I have and now I appreciate the sound more. Good headphones.
