Sennheiser HD 598 Special Edition Over-Ear Headphones - Black (Discontinued by Manufacturer)

Great sound quality and very comfortable but be aware these leak sound big time, this is by design however its like having two speakers on your head. Definitely not suitable for use on public transport or even if there is someone else in the room. I probably would have returned these only for I got them on Black Friday at a good price.

Sounds good, fits well, comfortable even after hours or use. Always using with the adaptor to fit my computer. No issues so far after months of use.

These replace my 20 years old HD580. Superb sound, detail and natural and the bass is perfect. These are not has good has the HD800, but a 110$ CDN in special, they are a real bargain.

First off, I actually had a friend who bought the ivory pair of these headphones and he was quite impressed by the sound. But I also bought these because of the literal THOUSANDS of positive reviews. So, I decided to give these cans a try! Construction: Very light! Seriously, when you first see these you are going to expect them to be a bit heavy. But thats where youre wrong kiddo! Sennheiser does not joke around and gets to the point! There is a bit of metal in the construction but overall, the headphones are made out of a durable, yet streamlined plastic. They didnt put too much into the construction of the headphones (even though they look fancy anyways) because their main focus was the drivers (which they did a very good job on) No matter how it looks, I can trust it because Sennheiser headphones are completely German engineering. None of this made in china crap. Comfort and Fit: Comfort has always been a concern for me and before I knew about quality audio, I used to use beats by dre because their studio headphones have a type of leather cushioning that I was a complete sucker for. But these blow it completely out of the water. First of all, I have never seen the types of cushions Sennheiser uses on any other headphones and I must say, they work well. Because the headphones are very light, you barely even feel like they are on your head. (Sometimes I get up and forget they are still on my head and plugged in!) I will say there is one flaw, and that is the fit. Even though the ear cups are made to swivel to the shape of your head and the cushions are made to cover your full ears, it was hard getting it on my bigger-than-average-sized head. I usually put my headphones down around 6 notches but with the Sennheisers, I had to put it down by 8. Which, isnt really a problem but I feel this might be a bit of a pet peeve for anyone with a big head. Sound: Now, this is the part of the review that really matters talking about. Sound! I want to say first off that this isnt just for your stuck-up, fancy-dancy audiophiles. This is also absolutely great for gamers! Yes, gamers! Because of the open ear design, gamers will have a more spacious feeling while listening which makes surround sound more believable. There are a lot of headsets out there that use advertising like Virtual Surround Sound but they never live up to the claim. Sennheiser on the other hand, puts work into the drivers instead of weird software that you have to tinker with to get the surround sound to work and because of that, you get really nice surround sound right when you plug them in. But now lets be more serious and get to clarity. I listened to a lot of different genres of songs (rock, techno, 80s and 90s music) and I have to say this. The bass feels more natural and smooth, I noticed instruments that were in the background that I didnt before, and (just a little warning for techno music listeners) you are going to hear a lot more in the songs you listen to. And sometimes that is not a good thing. When listening to lower quality techno music I was able to easily realize how bad it sounded but when listening to well-made techno music it was a great experience. I actually found out that some artists use this sort of sound-filter that they add to some techno songs to add more of a mood to it. So, to finish this review, I will leave you with this: Pros: -Comfort -Great for surround sound gaming and professional use -Comes with two cords, which both have a nice amount of length Cons: -You will have to adjust it quite far down if you have a big head -Although this technically isnt a con, they dont get their full potential unless you use them with an amplifier and a nice DAC or sound card. So, unless you have a mobile headphone amplifier, they arent going to sound amazing on mobile phones. Overall, they are great headphones and if you are serious about your audio I highly recommend getting a pair!

Best head phone ever sound and comfort is amazing

First of all, Id like to preface this review by stating in earnest that I do not consider myself to be an audiophile or any type of authority on audio. My experience with headphones prior to these was limited to basic earbuds a wrap around Sonys that were bundled with a discman (ergonomic, but average sound) I already knew that certain songs sound really good with headphones, but I didnt know how great they could sound with good headphones. Some of my test tracks: Space Oddity - Amazing spatial effect. The fact that this aspect of the song had been wasted on me for so long was truly eye opening. Everything Counts (Live Version) - The audience sells this one. Normally I prefer studio to concert recordings. I realise now how wrong Ive been. Cities on Flame - Wow. How much more clearly bass notes stand out from the rest is what impressed me the most. Ive had other headphones that boost bass, but theyve always just muddled everything into the bass. I can hear the bass separately from everything else. I was able to identify lossless vs MP3 versions of tracks, where previous equipment led me to believe that I wasnt missing anything with a lossy codec. I know that statement could be dismissed as confirmation bias, but I wrote a little shell script to do a blind test. Now Im going to listen to Tommy with a candle burning. Maybe Ill see my entire future. Seriously. I got these 9 hours ago, and havent stopped listening to music. Zero comfort issues. Cons: Open design allows ambient sound in, and could annoy people near you with sound leaking out. These arent recommended for travel or use in public.

Los compré después de valorar varios reviews en internet. El sonido es excelente para el tipo de música que me gusta, orquestral, videjuegos, piano y algunas peliculas que no requieran de bajos poderosos. Es importante que consideren que estos son audifonos que están abiertos es decir no aislan el sonido del exterior y por lo tanto otras personas podrán escuchar lo que están escuchando, esto aumenta muchísimo la calidad del sonido pero disminuye en gran medida el poder de los bajos. Esta versión (HD 598 SE) trae 2 cables uno corto de un 1 metro aproximadamente y otro de más de un metro (no son inalambricos) lo que es una gran ayuda a diferencia de la versión normal que sólamente trae un cable. Como no son inalambricos no los recomiendo para ser usados en exteriores y algunos celulares no tendrán el voltaje suficiente para escuchar el sonido como se debe. Son bastante comodos pero no viene incluida una bolsa o case para guardarlos por lo que deben tener un lugar para guardarlo y evitar que se dañen ya que no se doblan y pueden ocupar un espacio considerable en una mesa o escritorio. Nota: El PS4 no tiene salida para audifonos y con algunas televisiones necesitarán un amplificador para audifonos para poder escuchar con mejor claridad y calidad los sonidos.
