Sennheiser HD 598 Special Edition Over-Ear Headphones - Black (Discontinued by Manufacturer)

Interesting experience with these open back headphones, first open backs for me so it is a little weird/awkward at first. The sound quality is quite balanced and good, solid build. I would recommend for sure, but keep a pair of closed back headphones when you need some privacy and dont want others to hear what youre listening to ;)

Ive been looking for headphones the past few months, especially since the two pairs of earbuds I had were recently stolen. The last pair went missing two days ago, and I had already planned to purchase a nice pair of headphones for under $250. Over the past year I had been eyeballing these; after discovering about Sennheiser and the outstanding work theyve done I ultimately hit the buy button. I ordered Same-Day Shipping last night and received them this morning... and Im blown away. I was busy so I just got to listen to one of my favorite songs, Im and EDM fan so I chose a song by Savant. Since your probably dont know who that is hes a smaller DJ but makes phenomenal work (everything from acoustics to bass to flow to panning to rhythm to etc). I was using Bose SoundSport, which dont get my wrong are great earbuds and Ill still probably purchase another pair after both of mine being snatched. However, after listening to my first song with these theres no contest. Its near indescribable: it sounds like something youd get to do once every few years. It sounds like a five star meal, a live-performance with backstage passes, it sounds like physically three dimensional noise. There are a few downsides, such as the slightly weak bass and the bulkiness. Just like everything else this isnt the worst thing since you can add a bass booster EQ and the bulkiness isnt the most distracting thing in all honesty; even if it was the sound would make-up for it and still have have an entire room of contour to go. What really gets me about these headphones is the price and model; the fact that there are still better headphones made by Sennheiser than these heavenly gifts. They feel sturdy as well. The hexed metal on the outside cups doesnt push in at all unlike a lot of other headphones Ive dealt with, and the leathers and fabrics used are very cushiony while still feeling durable. Ill be updating this as time goes by, but Im positively sure my thought will stay the same. Definitely recommended.

I ultimately returned these. I was looking for something to replace my old Bose Quiet Comfort headphones and I thought these would do it. The cups are soft and comfortable, but the rest, not so much. The sound quality wasnt impressive. I have a smaller set of Sennheiser whose sound quality blows these away. They also were so tight, theyd press the arms of my glasses to the point where my glasses popped off the bridge of my nose. They seemed good but had too many uncomfortable flaws for me, especially with the mediocre sound quality. Thats not to disparage Sennheiser in general since I love my other set, but these just werent worth the money at all.

First, these headphones are open.If you are ok with this (or actually looking for it), then these are perfect. Bought them $100 cheaper in Amazon than the price I found in several stores. Ive read that people complain these headphones are too bulky. If the picture didnt help, yes, they are bulky. But if you are used to travel with a small backpack youll have no problem; I keep mine in my backpack or a big purse and there has been zero damage so far. Sound is perfect, and obviously, to make a song sound incredible youll have to equalize your device. I havent done it with mine, and with some albums I can hear far better percussion and with other the bass. Also, Ive read that these dont have a good bass balance, but again, if you equalize your device youll hear it.

Cable got damaged after one month. Went to service centre to get it exchanged. Sound is really good but its not good for office environment, noise leaks a lot. Bass & Clarity are good. No complains.

Jai acheté ce casque en promo à 130€ en me confiant aux commentaires positifs. A mon avis, les gens qui laissent ces commentaires nont acune autre casque de référence. Je possède déjà une Audiotehnica m50x (casque fermée) que jai payé 120€. Malheureusement Sennheiser ma déçu, le son est trop épais, pas assez détaillé. Jai fait 50h de rodage sans arrêt en espérant que la qualité sonore va saméliorer, aucune difference au final. Sennheiser HD598 coûte environ 200€, ca vaut pas le coup, achetez la uniquement en promotion. Si vous trouvez le son de cette casque assez bien, sachez quil existe beaucoup mieux que ça. Une casque pareille nécessite un bon baladeur audiophile avec DAC et amplificateur. Jutilise fiio x1 avec fiio e17k. La musique uniquement en format FLAC. Vous sentirez la difference. Brancher une casque de ce type a votre smartphone en mp3 cest comme acheter une Ferrari et rouler sur les routes de campagne a 10km/h.

Performance : Excellent home theater for audiophile souls. Detailed lows crispy mids detailed highs. If you need bass.. First let it burn around 100 hours even in the burn in period the bass is tight if you connect it to iPhone 6. And the whole thing changes when connected to Macbook Pro Bass is bossy now am actually more into hip hop and am loving it. Rock music perfectly rocks. Other generes it actually intended for that. I have a modded samsung s3. Rooted opened the inbuilt wolfson dac with beofella sound engine. And i never required a external dac for my s3. Its amazing my s3 is 3 years old and i thank samsung for that inbuilt dac. When am listening to hip hop in my s3 actually the headphones are dancing for deep bass vibrations like beats headphones. And the mid bass is awesome and punchy. So with a perfect dac it opens the bass so much which people are complaining. And for other details and sound stage experiance every other reviewr already explained. Am planning to buy a good dac soon to open to it more. The built quality is awesome the earlier cracking issue is no more with this. I wish these are foldable for portablity and should come with a case. However will buy a case any way. As this is a openstage set ya folks around you also enjoy with high and mid volume which my friends like it so much and you wont miss the music when you are talking to some one even the headphones down to your neck. I actually i like it. And people around you surely envy. Comfort: its the most affordable and comfortable piece of art. I forgot if am wearing these headphones and you can wear it whole day long.. No heating ears or mind it always keeps you cool as a german automobile it looks humble but when it comes to performance and features it leaves the competion to dust. If you want a perfectly balanced hometheater yes this hometheater is for you its actually 10.1 hi res system ha ha headphones.. And you are into gaming, movies, music or editing its for you. You have to close eyes and start pointing the fingers in air as where the notes are coming from. Careful when some one is around my mom some times intervance as am in some trance and talking to aliens in their language and crazy. Buy it blindfolded even on box price and i thank Amazon for the black friday gift and one day delivery i enjoyed my weekend with this baby.
