Sennheiser HD 598 Special Edition Over-Ear Headphones - Black (Discontinued by Manufacturer)

I took one star away because the sound leaks so much. I took another star because the weight of the cord cracked the headphone jack on my laptop. Im currently ordering a USB plug in for a place to plug them into now. Sound is pretty good. Like the cushioning.

Those are one of the best headphone Ive used. Those cost me 100$ in black friday and worth every dollar. You can barely feel that there are there, listening at home is perfect are you can here the surrounding (as with speakers). I also have the great Audio Technica M50, which are great but I like the HD598 better. Clearer sound, fun to listen. Very Recommended.

Just got them last evening. I havent spend much time on these headphones, but from whatever little time I had with these they are just a wonderful pair of headphones. I compared these against the ATHM50xs I already own. Without a doubt these are much better in every aspect other than noise isolation. The sound stage was like a revelation coming from the M50Xs. I wouldnt say the sound leak is bad, but the noise isolation really is. But thats what you get with open back design. Youll have to crank up the volume if theres someone talking in your room or if there are loud noises around. My major concern before I bought these were if it would lack bass and sound tinny. But that is not the case, the bass is definitely present. It is not as bassy as the Audio Technicas but it is definitely present and it is tight. Did I mention about comfortability? These are like pillows on your head. They are extremely light and comfortable. I know these are only around 20 grams lighter than the M50Xs. But they just float. Unbelievably light and comfortable. Will update the review once I have spend some time with these. Cheers.

These sound great! I bought the V-MODA M100 as well as these to compare. The m100 sound great for a lot of bassheavy, poppy songs, but are very uncomfortable on my ears. I prefer the lack of bass on the 598s - a lot less fatiguing. Comfort - Very comfortable around my ear BUT the headband was too tight on my head. I taped a piece of foam under the headband and that fixed the issue!

Extremely comfortable headphones. Previously in my life I had mostly used cheap dollar store/walmart headphones until recently a few years ago I picked up ATH M50S which I found to produce very good sound. After a while with the M50s my ears would ache from the cushions sitting on them. With these headphones I find the sound to be better than the M50s and i find them to be much much more comfortable with little fatigue after extended periods of time. These are open headphones as well which allows me to use them with gaming, playing team chat through the headphones and the game sounds through external speakers or vice-versa.

視聴環境 PC→光デジタルでYAMAHA A-S301に接続(DAC内臓)→A-S301のスピーカー端子から抵抗をはさんでヘッドホンにつないでいます。 PC以外での使用はiPod touch 第3世代で、直刺しです。 よく聞くジャンルはアニメ、アニソン、ゲーソン、美少女ゲームなど、 主に女性声優の声や歌です。 私は気軽に視聴に行ける環境ではないので、レビューをよく読んで購入しました。 ほとんどの方が高評価をしており、音質については、「優しい音」「柔らかい音」 「聞き疲れしない音」「温かい音」 というような評価が多かったです。 少ないですが低評価のレビューもあり、「解像度が低い」「低音出すぎ」 「こもったような音」 というような評価がありました。 低評価のレビューは気になりましたが、安売りしているのを見て買ってしまいました。 そして家に届いていざ聞いてみると… 低評価のレビューで言われていた、「解像度が低い」「低音出すぎ」 「こもったような音」 というのをまず感じました。 このヘッドホンと同時期に購入したK702は、初めて聞いたときから良い音で、 すぐに気に入りました。 これは失敗したか… と思って購入したことを後悔しましたが、 あれだけの高評価レビューにはなにか理由があると思い、 このヘッドホンをしばらく使い続けてみました。 使い続けていると、「解像度が低くてこもったような音」という印象は、 「聞き疲れしない優しい音」という印象に変わってきました。 K702は中高音がキレイで、低音は引き締まって程よく出ていて、 上から下まで解像度が高い。 これぞ高音質という感じです。しかし、その音は長時間聞くと耳が疲れてきます。 比べてHD598SEは、解像度や音のキレイさではK702より劣るものの、 そこが「聞き疲れしない優しい音」となっていて、 長時間の使用でも聞き疲れしにくいです。 低音の量に関しては、イコライザで調整しました。 最低限の音質はありつつも、長時間の使用もできるという点が このヘッドホンの魅力だと思います。 K702が高音質なら、HD598SEは柔音質という感じです。 このヘッドホンは、寝ながら使いやすいというのも良い点です。 K702は耳に当たる部分が円形で大きいので、 寝ながら使うのには適しません。 このヘッドホンの耳に当たる部分は、 耳に沿うような楕円形なので、寝ながらでも快適に使えます。 寝る前に安眠導入の音声などを聞くのに重宝しています。 寝ながら使いたいとき、家事などの作業をしながら音楽を聞きたいときはHD598SE アニメやアニソン、美少女ゲームなどのボイスをキレイな音で聞きたいときはK702 という風に使い分けています。 寝ながら聞きたい、音質はそこそこでいいから長時間聞きたい という用途には最適なヘッドホンです。

Just try them! I am not a big headphone guy, as I always found headphones did not sound as open and natural as a good pair of stereo speakers. I have a pair of 6 foot high speakers which need a very big amp to drive them. These speakers are very revealing, but these headphones sound amazingly similar. As long as you understand that these are open backed headphones, which leak sound, these are fantastic sounding headphones. Specifically, they have a very open soundstage and they have good drive. I think the best thing you can say is that these headphones sound as good as relatively expensive,large speakers, and are a pleasure to listen to.As I mentioned, I am not a big headphone guy, but I do own a pair of Sennheiser Momentum over the ear headphones, and can give you a brief comparison. Both headphones are relatively neutral, and have low enough impedance that you can connect them to your phone or iPod and have good sound. The Momentum is closed back, and does not leak sound, so it is better for listening on the go. It is very clear, and has more (but not ridiculously overdone) bass. Closed back headphones, due to their physical design, can often times have more bass than open backed headphones. The HD598 has a much more open soundstage, and a bit less neutral sound, but have an engaging and non-fatiguing sound. The headphones are supremely comfortable. There is plenty of NATURAL bass, not boosted through equalization adjustments. The best thing I can say is that I am quite picky when it comes to listening to music- I want something clear, natural and open, so I really like my speaker system. The HD598 makes me want to listen to music, and is as satisfying as my large speakers. Highly recommended, and very inexpensively priced for the sound quality and enjoyment you get from them!
