Sennheiser HD 598 Special Edition Over-Ear Headphones - Black (Discontinued by Manufacturer)

AMAZING earphones! Sound quality is so clear and I can raise the volume to the highest setting and it doesnt hurt my ears. I can literally listen to anything and these headphones will make it sound beautiful. I love this product. Voted best headphones in 2013 or something like that, and I can definitely see why. I bought these when Amazon had a sale on them, so if you catch it at the right time definitely do not miss an opportunity to purchase them! The only thing you may look out for is that there is no noise cancellation, so if you are a college student listening in the library where a lot of other people are studying or your office allows you to wear headphones, these might not be the best option since a) you will be able to hear what other people are jabbering on about and b) they will be able to listen to the things you are listening to.

These are wonderful headphones! They produce a very rich sound and are a huge upgrade over anything Ive had in the past. (Which isnt a whole lot) They are open back which means other people near you can hear your music, so these are more of an at home type of headphone. But they are awesome!

Cheap platsic feels like a $10 dollar library headset NOT WORTH $150 or feel anything like a $150 pair of headphones ATH-M50X is clear winner

My first high-end headphone was a Sennheiser HD 595, which I paid over $300 for. Ive used that for over a decade and still works and impresses me, apart from the cosmetics being worn down from a lot of use over the years. The 598 basically gives the same natural sound, concert feeling audio that I felt with my 595. Last year, the Ivory color of this 598 was the Black Friday sale, and it was a no brainer absolute steal purchase! This year, the special edition black version is on sale for the ridiculous bargain price, I just had to grab another one. I also own the Sennheiser 600, but that model and higher requires an amp. With the 598, you do not need an amp to enjoy it. It will bring a whole new life to your music collection and be enjoying the same music youve listen to hundreds time with a fresh new experience, being able to clearly hear the vocals and individual instruments and depth - a concert feeling; not a confined claustrophobic, everything muffled together mess. No matter what genre you listen to, it should make you feel like you are in a concert hall. It is like having a portable surround sound system on your head. Poor audio speakers can make the listening experience a chore or exhaustive after a few minutes; I can listen to music I normally wouldnt listen to or my favorite songs for longer periods because theres so much audio satisfaction with these, just being able to appreciate the little instrumental details and directions. The only negative is that sound will leak because these are open headphones for a more natural sound that you will even forget you are wearing headphones; so probably not a good idea to listen to Britney Spears in public. ;) If you can appreciate sound, this is a no brainer purchase, especially if you never owned higher quality headphones; your wallet and ears will be satisfied. The design also looks professional and not juvenile. Im still blown away by the sounds these headphones are capable of producing. Headphones usually require break-in periods and these will just sound better and better over the years. If you are having trouble removing the cord from the headphones, make sure you TWIST first then pull; I had trouble first pulling it out and it turns out you need to twist to lock/unlock the cord before removing it.

Crystal clear, comfortable music! Feel so good to wear, I use these as my primary headset now. I have several pairs that I thought were comfortable, until I got my Sennheisers!! And the sound is amazing. You may need an amp if you are listening to music with portable device. I use brainwavz ap01, and Fiio eo7k and both work great with them.

The most comfortable headphone I had ever used, the cups are big enough to fully cover my huge ears yet they do not clamp hard on my head. Thanks to its light weight, it doesnt cause fatigue after long hours, I can turn my head as if it wasnt there--sort of, cause the stock cable housing is too long, it always hit my left shoulder. I probably have to get another cable with shorter or more flexible housing. maybe thats just me with my short neck cause I rarely see other users complain about this. Now the sound, Im not head-fi Audiophile, prefer traditional hi-fi with speakers. I use headphone mainly on computer for casual listening, I have Creative Aurvana Live! and Live! 2, also V-MODA Crossfade M-80. Of the three, I prefer CAL, the HD598 sound less enjoyable to me, especially the bass. HD598 sound stage is much much wider, sadly, the frequency on both hi and low ends are less than CAL. probably because CAL emphasis both ends to please the crowd for casual listening. I had use this with Asus X99 Sabertooth onboard sound so my current finding with a mere ~100 hours doesnt do justice to HD598. I will get a headphone amp with DAC to test it properly in the next few weeks, although I doubt the lower end would improve much. Still, for the price I paid, this deserve 5 stars.

Not wireless with last forever power source. BUT very comfortable to wear and listen to for long periods of time. If youve never heard hi-fi sound reproduction be prepared for a new listening experience. You will hear things in your music / game youve never heard before! The sound is very true to the source..if their is bass you get it, if there is reverb you get it. These are closed so you dont hear background sounds and others cant hear you. Worth the wait for a 25 to 50 percent off sale.

The soundstage achieved on these is the equivalent of Dolby 5.1 Speakers and its a treat to the ears and the user experience. Its so built that it can be used for long hours of listening without any fatigue. The cans encompass your ears ergonimically without even touching them. Music through these are 99.9% accurate including the bass which is all natural. Listening to any song that recorded with emphasized soundstage will really make these headphones kill. Movies are also very enjoyable with these headphones, as you will experience the soundstage that theaters provide. The soundstage is so double boosted by the open ended design. I consider these headphones a must grab deal at 6499/- INR and would recommend these to a friend at anything even upto 10k also. These Headphones are great for home use with their comfort and open ended design.
