then this is the one as long as you dont use their cameras. I have an Arlo for my video monitoring and this for my Alarm at night. Arlo does not require a monthy fee to see the cameras on line, while simply safe does. But with Arlo and Simply Safe I have the best of both worlds.

Having a REAL PROBLEM getting an alarm certificate downloaded - major malfunction requiring major investments in time on the phone talking endlessly to customer support. They say it can’t be done. Have to have a windows pc or send it to your Ins co.

It broke after 2 months while I was out of town. Multiple false alarm police dispatches. My housekeeper was on the phone with SimpliSafe tech support for an hour. Conclusion- failed part which they refused to overnight. Jonathan Sacks CEO PharmAdva

They advertise that you can still use the system without a monitoring subscription but as soon as I canceled the service my cameras no longer worked on the app or website. I tried to set them up on a new account with no monitoring plan but it wouldnt let me because they were tied to another account. I could not unlink them from my account because Simplisafe could not reach them. Ive tried everything but the cameras are just paper weights now.

The model I received was manufactured before December 2021 and did not have the upgraded program. The Simplisafe tech was able to push the upgrade through. Everything else was very easy and I can add as much as I want later on.

This company built an adequate system at an apparently competitive price. However, the system basically does not work without the monitoring service. The keypad is extremely basic, with only a 4-digit security code. So you need the app, in order to do anything -- check all sensor status, get alerts. But the app is only enabled if one buys the monitoring service, which is $19 - $24 / month, plus an interactive app fee. The entire proposition ends up being way more expensive -- and inappropriate for many cases. We were simply looking to monitor the exits on our home and hopefully set up some basic automation. It worked beautifully until today when the cat turned on the Home program, and suddenly we received a service call asking for a safety word I had never setup (because... I never set up the monitoring to begin with!). Since I could not produce it, they sent the police to my home -- even though they state that they will not do so, and even though they had already talked to both me and my spouse, on both phones registered with the app. The monitoring call had poor communication (what would we do if we had in fact needed help?) and then the call to the technical support to understand how the monitoring was triggered was unhelpful, after having to wait twice for 10+ minutes on a call, as they were gathering facts about their own service. I finally spoke with a supervisor, who abruptly disconnected from the call the moment it became clear the system was not going to work for us. Even if I needed the service, this is not the level of care I would feel comfortable with. So now I need to dismantle 12 entry sensors and a motion sensor and return, incurring a restocking fee. (I did not purchased on Amazon). The hardware is ok, range seems sufficient for our small split-level home, with sensors set on 3 levels. That was the selling point -- no repeater. However, the keypad is fairly useless and the service is really struggling. They have some work to do.
