Greater than one weekDeceptive! Made the purchase because it says “no contract needed” and that it “integrates with Alexa @ Google”. Guess what, you have to pay for that service…”per contract” lol. $25 a month to use Google? Ya, that’s a hell no for me.

> 3 dayI bought this with the understanding that I could REMOTELY monitor my home without purchasing one of their 2 service programs. THAT IS NOT THE CASE. I have returned it for that reason. However #1, this system was extremely well packaged and easy to set up. They really have thought the whole process through. Initial set-up and pairing was simple. Each device could either be attached with screws or mounting stickers (both included). It wasnt until I was configuring the system and the app kept looping back asking me about a monitoring option that I realized there was a problem. Despite the fact it paired with my WiFi the app didnt allow access without their top monitoring service (83 cents a day I think). It took a call to tech support discover that it wouldnt work the way I wanted without one of their paid services. However #2, they were extremely pleasant on the refund including free shipping back. No hard sell although I was offered a couple months more of free monitoring. If you want a DIY home security and monitoring system and are willing to pay for the monitoring service, I think this would be an excellent option.

08-06-2025I have a hard wired system. One zones contact is faulty and was tripping the siren, so I bypassed it. My alarm company needed to come inside, which I wouldn.t allow at this time, although I offered them easy access to the contact. Then a second zone had a faulty contact, tripping the siren, and the alarm company did not call me back after I left a rather frantic message Now, I am bypassing two zones. . Both siren episodes happened at night during sleep. The siren is outrageously loud. Decided to get this system, which arrived in one day, to protect the two zones. Setting up is not hard at all. There is a countdown if you accidentally open a door or window accidentally, if armed. Something that I have not seen mentioned; I called customer service twice with some questions, and got prompt pickups, and great help. My experience has been very good thus far, and I am less dependent on my hard wired alarm company. If more hard wired sensors dont perform, I can add sensors to this product as necessary.

> 3 dayThis system (and the outdated versions still sold elsewhere on Amazon) is awful in numerous ways: 1. The company does not provide the monitoring: they give your personal data (and real-time access to monitoring in your home) to third parties that are unnamed. When these small third party companies with limited funds to spend on data security get hacked, SimpliSafe can just avoid responsibility by saying its not their fault. I dont want a security company whose business model is to deny responsibility for the security of extremely personal information. 2. The app for the system costs $120/year, and it doesnt work. They deceptively say in the product information that the service cost is only $14.95/month, but they omit the fact that they want to charge $10/mo in addition for the app. A nearly 70% additional charge just for the app!! And if you check the app reviews, its abysmal. The app is completely unreliable in arming and disarming the system or connecting remotely to check on status. I dont pay anything for the app that lets me check on my Nest thermostat or Nest smoke/CO detectors. And yet after taking your $15/mo. they want even more for an app that doesnt work. 3. The company claims on their website that they have 40,000 5-star reviews on Amazon. This is highly dishonest. None of their kits on Amazon is highly rated. Their kit with the most reviews (just in the range of 5,000) has a 3-star average and thousands of critical reviews. 4. They state in their advertising that adding the camera is important because the police will respond more quickly if the presence of an intruder is confirmed by video. However, they do not provide any guarantees about the use of the live and recorded video from inside your home. There is nothing guaranteed about who can access that video and how long they keep it. They limit your access to 30 days, but they do give no guarantee about keeping that 24/7 recording of the inside of your house private. 5. The primary communication to their service is via cell phone. They dont state which service provider they use, and Ive never lived anywhere that has a good signal from all carriers. I get spotty voice quality from AT+T where I live, so not having an option to connect this to a land line is a serious limitation. 6. The sensors for windows, motion, etc. are just off-the-shelf parts. There is no innovation here in the accuracy or reliability or other functionality of the sensors themselves. The concerns above about the service are the heart of the issue. You can buy these sensors and a base station from any number of companies, so it comes down to the cost, reliability, and privacy of the service. These guys arent even providing the service: they are just outsourcing it to someone else unnamed, so who knows what your actually buying here.

Greater than one weekThis company is a scam. Once you subscribe to their monthly, almost $30, monitoring fee they will not let you cancel. You have to call, no way to cancel online or with the app, and you get transferred to the ‘Retention Department’ and they will not cancel your automatic withdrawal. Most important thing to research on a home alarm is ease of cancellation. I bought a Ring system, the monthly fee is less than $10, and easy to cancel. It also includes cloud storage for my 4 Ring cameras... and Simplisafe had none. Sort of like the printer scam model, Simplisafe sells you the hardware for a loss, but will charge you $360 per year for pretty much nothing. They brag they are highly recommended by consumer testing sites, but I’d wager none of them set up a paying account and then try and cancel it.

> 3 dayI have had about 15 different issues over the 1.5 years Ive had the system. Support is useless and just read off a sheet on how to disconnect and reconnect the device that isnt working... even if you just connected it. Ive wasted days worth of hours trying to resolve issues with this system that I will not get back.

> 3 dayCharging me $10 a month despite me choosing the option NOT to monitor when setting it up. No email verifying subscription or a free trial or anything. You can’t cancel subscription on the app or their website. Their initial email said to ask if questions, but when you try to cancel by replying the email bounces back!! You must call to cancel - that makes no sense in this era except that they are trying to get as much money as possible. Optional monitoring? I think not. No, no, just no! Stay away!

> 3 dayThe system works OK, but I found the advertising seriously misleading. They say you can self-monitor without a contract. But you really cant, because they dont provide the ability to arm and disarm the system from your phone unless you spring for their premium monthly monitoring agreement, around $26 a month. Without the ability to turn the system on or off remotely, you cant stop the alarm from going off, or let a friend enter, etc. Its like, $230 for the equipment. But if you want the on/off switch, thatll be $26 a month. I returned the equipment and went with a competitor that doesnt play this game.
