We have (had) a problem with the cat always sneaking into the closet. He cant get in anymore! Very strong hold, but it did rip the paint off the door when we tried repositioning it. We live in an apartment so its no big deal, cheap paint is always chipping off, but be warned apartment dwellers.

To start, our mission profile is a little different: to keep our cats out of my g/fs closet sliding mirror doors; not an active toddler. The latch is really well thought out. Its light weight, unobtrusive and easy to install. Its intuitive to operate and, so far, has successfully resisted the cat attack. We have a large enough gap so that it folds flat and the doors operate normally when we want them to. Locking and unlocking the latch takes less than a second and one finger. A single latch secures both sliding doors (interior mirrored closet doors, not patio doors) and there are two to a package. The adhesive is strong and so far the cats pawing and pushing hasnt moved the latch. Keeping in mind our light duty for this product, its really great.

This works great on our closet bypass doors. It was easy to place, sticks well and pops up easily and then pops down easily when you want to open the doors. I took off one star because the part that slides up and down comes out of the track sometimes and its kind of a nuisance to get back in the track...I think eventually the little guides are going to break if I have to pop it into place too many times. Just put it high enough that its out of the kiddos reach, because I imagine they could figure it out easily enough. Also, it wont work if there arent guides at the bottom of your bypass doors. We recently replaced our doors and I hadnt yet added the guide back at the bottom of them. I put this lock on and my toddler just pushed the doors backward to get past the lock. I realized what was happening and put the guide back on and now its great. I will say that even though its not recommended for this use, I did try it on our sliding glass door. I was desperate because my little guy keeps letting himself outside, which is terrifying. I wont take off a star for this, because they flat out tell you not to use it for that purpose but I would definitely follow their recommendation NOT to use it on a sliding glass door. It stuck really well to the glass so I can see how it would work well for keeping windows from opening all the way, but I needed the door to slide past the lock so that we could still get out as needed. And it did, actually. I tested it to see if there was enough clearance before I stuck it on and there seemed to be. But once I stuck it on the glass, the sliding door did bump the stationary door when it was opened. It actually wasnt bad though, and we could definitely open the door. And the kiddo definitely could not open the door, so in that regard it did work. But then the sliding part of the lock popped off the track (like I mentioned above) while the door was open and I panicked because it prevented me from closing the slider at all. I did manage to get the door shut and removed the lock altogether so it wont happen again, but Im bummed that I will probably have to look into a lock which requires drilling into the slider frame or costs a ton. But anyways, learn from my mistake and listen to the advice that this lock isnt meant for sliding glass doors!

I did try one on and it came off after couple hours. I am hoping it is long lasting but I still dont know because it us my first day of using it. It does hold the door if it stays on. It is great. I tried to open the door and I was afraid it will break but it did not.

So my 2 1/2 year old decided one night that she REALLY wanted to go to the park. Of course at this age reason is not something she knows of, yet. She decided that she could get through the standard sliding glass door lock and remove the piece of wood that was also in the door, did I mention how strong she is, so that she could let herself out the door. Well after much freaking out and discussing how to keep her in the house, I hop on Amazon and was amazed to see this product recommended for me! It was like Amazon knew exactly what I had been discussing and found the best solution possible. Ordered this baby and BAM! next day it was here. I was super excited to try it out. Put up at the top of the door where I know my daughters Houdini magic couldnt possibly reach, I sat back watching and waiting for her to try it out. I will be honest I did laugh pretty hard when she exclaimed, What the H! I knew that I won this round. I highly recommend for any parent who has a child capable of Houdini magic too!

I have a sliding barn style door for my pantry that my daughter (2 yo) loved moving to the side to get into mischief. This is the perfect solution. Super easy to put up, easy to use, and keeps her out of potentially harmful places. Worth the purchase!
