> 24 hourIve owned a number of professional flashlights over the years. My fascination with these products started while I was involved as a Sheriffs deputy in search and rescue at night on partially frozen lakes. What a difference a decent light makes for your own safety and finding what youre looking for! Hand-held flashlights have certainly come a long way since the days of the incandescent bulb and the much improved Xenon bulbs. LEDs are the way to go (although HID has applications in certain applications requiring extraordinary power). This light is the latest edition of the duty light being carried by many professional users that like the Streamlight brand. It represents a substantial upgrade over the Streamlight Stinger product line in that the Strion product line uses Lithium Ion battery technology instead of the Nickle Metal Hydride technology used in the Stinger. The result is higher energy density which translates into more or longer light production for a given battery weight. L-Ion batteries also perform better at extremely low temperatures and dont self-discharge anywhere nearly as fast as most NiMiH batteries. So if youre leaving it off the charger for an extended period youre more likely to have a useable light 3 months later. The other important feature of this light is a newer generation of LED that produces 500 lumens on the highest of the 3 settings. This flashlight puts out more light than the headlights on my first car I bought back in the 70s. The beam is a moderately wide spot with a fair amount of light spillage outside the central beam. I find it a very useful pattern as it can be used to search out to 200 - 300 feet while spilling enough light so you can see where youre about to put your feet as you walk along with the central beam pointed forward. The tailcap switch works well once you get used to it. You can use the switch for a moment with a half-press or lock it on with a full press. It even has a strobe feature if you quickly double-click the tailswitch. Its a curiosity for me, but might be useful in certain law-enforcement situations. Unlike the old days where you had to remove the flashlight from your belt holster loop in order to sit in a vehicle, this light is small enough to stay in the holster. Yet it provides much more light than my first Xenon Streamlight. You can even carry it in a normal pants or jacket pocket. Size matters and this is the flashlight I use the most. (By the way, a holster is NOT included. I bought one from NiteIze that works fairly well.) The light comes with a nice secure snap-in AC/DC charger too. Its great if you dont want to fiddle with plugging in USB cables or need to mount in in a car/boat/ATV and not worry about it flying out of the charger when you hit a bump or jump a wave.

> 24 hourGreat flashlight. Compact size easy to carry and Very heavy duty. This my third light in 3 years and i keep ordering the same model strion HL 500 lumen. Ive dropped, banged, left in water and oil and this light handles it like a pro and brightness doesnt really ever fade. The paint on the other hand fades easily. Mainly because im rough on them but i still feel like the paint should last longer. Only reason i buy more is because ive lost them on job sites and never see them again. Longest ive had one is 1.5 years with everyday use. Ive seen brighter flashlights on amazon for a cheaper price but i always come bcak to this one for its toughness. The way it mounts on its charger is convenient and effortlessly. Just wish theyd send 2 mounts with charger for house and car instead they just send 1 mount and 2 charging cables, one for the house and car charger so you have to carry the mount with you if you need to use both

> 24 hourIve been a plumber for over 33 years and this flashlight is the best one Ive ever owned and over the years Ive used a lot of flashlights. I lost my old Strion LED HL model in a very deep layer of attic insulation and I was very upset! It was almost 4 years old and the only thing to ever fail was the tail switch which the company covered under the warranty. These things are tough as nails and will light up the darkest areas I work in. I will hopefully hang on to this one for the rest of my life. You get what you pay for and Im really glad to be fortunate enough to be able to afford this fine product. You will not be disappointed!

> 24 hourLove this light. Bought this because my academy issued light had batteries. I used it for a month on night shift and the batteries were losing their power already so I decided I needed a rechargable light. A buddy had this one and it was incredibly bright and he liked it more than his primary. This light is good for up close use like clearing a house. Its not as well suited for searching for things in the distance. My main flashlight is a Streamlight Stinger DS LED and that one is better for distance. Most of what I use my lights for is close distance so I used this one the vast majority of the time. Ive read this light comes with 3 light settings + a strobe setting. Im not sure if Im missing something or not understanding flashlight settings correctly but all I am able to get working is 1 regular setting and 1 strobe setting. But thats all I want really so Im good. :)

> 24 hourBrightest light I have ever owned. Work as an auto mechanic and use this daily. Slightly bulky for carying all day in pocket. Will light up anything even in direct sun light. Charger can be picky about how light is mounted so it wont charge and run time is limited for high use. Best as an inspection light with some work light use. Will light up the universe if your using for camping or anything at night. The most durable light I have ever owned though. Dropped countless times and works/looks good. Very strong frame and well designed. Does get warm if left on for a period of time but not hot to the touch. You will know if you leave it on and put it in your pocket though.

> 24 hourI am a Police Officer, and I have to say this light is simply incredible. Its the brightest, most compact light Ive been able to find. I replaced an older Streamlight Stinger (which is still a great light) with this Strion HL model. I wanted something extremely bright, but compact enough to fit in my tactical vest pocket--This fit the bill exactly. This light is perfect for traffic stops (which is a very large part of the job). The Stinger Ive used for years has a more concentrated beam and when I would shine it into a vehicle, the occupants could see exactly what I was illuminating (kind of like a large laser pointer in this regard). The Strion HL has a broader beam and does an excellent job of lighting up the entire interior of each vehicle. The HL model is also perfect for clearing houses/buildings and searching through wooded areas because of the extreme brightness and broad beam. I can only think of 2 negative things about this light (that are easily corrected by changing the settings on the light)... 1. The charge only lasts about 1 hour on the 500 lumen setting. This is sufficient for me on most days. You can always turn the lumens down to increase runtime if needed. Even at the 250 lumen setting, this light is extremely bright! 2. It is so bright that its hard to see when using it to illuminate for writing purposes. Once again though, you can turn the lumens down if necessary. Bottom line is that this is an excellent product that is backed by the Streamlight quality weve been used to for so long. Ive done a lot of research on other flashlights out there, and I am confident that this light is the best on the market right now! I would recommend this light to anyone. Its worth every penny!

> 24 hourI know my other streamlight strion did not look like this. Is this something new. I had two strions lights and one is different from the other, in addition to my review and also reading from other buyers, these are lights that law enforcement and security supposed to trust, being a streamlight flashlight customer for 3 years my first streamlight strion had no problems whatsoever no raspy worn charging contacts and overall good quality. My only complaint was that the battery died out too quickly but I would pay that kind of money for a made in the USA Product streamlight strion. I have had 4 lights total.
