I had several tips that were so damaged over the years, they were essentially useless. However they were fairly expensive Weller branded tips that I hated to get rid of. With my first attempt it did make them usable enough, however I didnt even bother cleaning the tips first so the results were somewhat disappointing. After cleaning the tips and very very lightly sanding the tips, this made them like new. Ive restored all my tips like this, and Ill never ever be without this on my bench. As for the no instructions: Clean your tips! Then you just turn your iron on and stick it in this stuff and let it melt around it. Has a very unique odor to it, so I wouldnt do it without proper ventilation.

I was originally using the solder itself to tin the tip, however this dandy helper is much more efficient, especially since I have lead solder with a flux core. I am very happy with the flow of this tip tinner.

This is much smaller than I expected, larger than a quarter but not by a lot. That said, it worked as intended, and I was up and soldering right away. Just dont expect something you can use more than maybe 15-20 times.

If your a person who has soldered for 50 years, and value the life of tips that stay in good working order, they a tip tinner is handy to prolong both small and large tips that are used frequently.

This is like a cheat code for tinning your soldering gun. It makes everything seem brand new. With that said, you shouldnt over use this stuff. It is a very small container and while its good, there isnt very much that comes with it. A little bit of this stuff goes a long way. The main way to tin your soldering gun tip is just a dab of solder. I only use it when I am done soldering a long project and am putting the solder gun away. Give it a slight dab and the dust will melt onto the tip. Turn the gun off, and the soldering gun will be ready for action the next time you have to use it. Creates a mirror finish and keeps the solder melting. I highly recommend.
